If you're a young basketball player who loves our game, wants to put in some honest work to get better at it, and wouldn't mind having an absolute ton of fun along the way...you're in the right place.
If you're a parent who wants your kid to pursue her own vision of excellence in basketball, to benefit from a modern approach to skill development, and to be part of a supportive, ambitious organization with a deep commitment to teaching basketball skills and life skills...you're in the right place.
With our focus on building the skills and smarts necessary to compete at the high school level and beyond, we provide a variety of opportunities for girls to play basketball locally and regionally. Organized under the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), Elevation emphasizes local skill development over relentless travel schedules.
Beyond the many joys of playing good team basketball, we want our efforts to support the broader athletic, academic, and social development of the young women in our program.
Our worldview is captured in the Elevation motto: “Basketball is more fun when you’re good at it.” We’d love to help make basketball an important and productive part of your daughter’s life.
Note that Elevation Basketball is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and is incorporated under California law as a public benefit nonprofit. Donations to our programs will therefore be tax-deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for more information.
Kevin Price founded Elevation Basketball in 2025 to provide a developmental program for Carmel-area girls who love the game and want to make it an important part of their lives.
Born and raised in Salinas, Kevin first played organized basketball in the 7th grade. He scored six points (total!) that season and didn’t play in the 8th grade. He then decided to work as hard as he could for the next four years and became a key contributor on a 24-3 league championship team at Salinas High, playing under legendary head coach Joe Chappell. In his senior season, Kevin was a First-Team All-Monterey Bay League selection, an All-County selection in the Californian and Herald, and selected to play in multiple postseason all-star games at the regional and sectional levels. He also set a (long-since broken) school record for 3-point baskets made in a season with 57, shooting just under 50% (57-115) from beyond the arc for the year.
Kevin began his coaching career in the 2001-02 season as a varsity assistant at Salinas High under Coach Chappell. After moving back to Monterey County in 2009, he began a seven-season run as a varsity assistant in the boys program at SHS. Kevin also served as the head coach of the Cowboy freshman squad from 2010 to 2015. In his last two seasons in that role, his talented teams went 47-1, winning back-to-back undefeated league championships.
Kevin began coaching girls basketball when his lifelong best friend Alan Shipnuck asked him to help with a 5th grade YMCA team featuring Alan’s daughter Abby (who went on to become an All-League and All-County standout at Carmel High) and several other girls from Carmel River Elementary.
During two subsequent seasons at Carmel Middle School, Kevin’s teams combined to go 23-0. He then served as varsity girls coach at Carmel High for two seasons, the second of which was the unorthodox Covid campaign of 2020-21. In his first year at CHS, he led a young squad to a second-place league finish and a first-round CCS playoff victory before bowing out to the #1 seed on the road.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Kevin is coaching the 7th grade girls team at CMS.
If our program sounds like a good fit for your family, please reach out so we can discuss what it would mean for your daughter to join us. We aim to help all our players make the most of their athletic, academic, and social opportunities through basketball and beyond.
